Real Simple Just Launched a Kitchen Line—See the 5 Picks Our Editors Desperately Want Now

  • Real Simple and At Home launched a home products line, including a collection of kitchen items.
  • Our editors chose five products that they want in their own kitchen.
  • Products start at $1.99 and are available in stores and online at At Home’s website.

For 25 years, Real Simple has focused on testing products, recommending and sharing tips and tricks with the goal to make life a bit easier. Thanks to their new collaboration with homeware brand At Home, they’re bringing that expertise into real kitchens with a line of tools, bakeware and food prep products. Real Simple describes their new collaboration as “where beauty meets utility,” and here at EatingWell we definitely know how to appreciate both. Real Simple is owned by EatingWell‘s parent company, People Inc.

From useful gadgets to functional tupperware to patterned dish cloths, these new items are designed for both function and style, and products start at just $1.99. I asked some of our editors what picks they were most excited to try from the new line, and these are five items that they want to have in their own kitchens.

Large White Metal Wire Fruit Basket with Acacia Wood Lid, 11″

Our editorial director Carolyn Malcoun is a big fan of this versatile fruit basket. “I am definitely buying the stackable fruit baskets. First, they will look fantastic in my kitchen. But also, I love the utility of them having a flat top,” she said. “I can have sensitive fruit like peaches in the basket, then put other fruits and veggies that I keep at room temp like tomatoes and bananas on top without worrying about anything getting crushed or bruised.”

This bowl comes in two sizes, with 9 inch or 11 inch diameters to choose from. Plus, take the wooden lid off and use it to serve up sliced fruit or charcuterie.

Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Covered Skillet, 3.5L

Our food editor and resident recipe expert Alex Loh is eyeing this stainless steel skillet for its functionality. “I like how high the sides are so there’s no risk of stuffing spilling out and dirtying my stovetop,” she said. “Plus, I love the design of the handle—it’s super sleek and seems like it’ll be comfortable to hold and move around.”

This pan can be used on all types of stovetops, and can even be put in the oven up to 600 degrees. Use this $49.99 skillet for all of your favorite fall recipes, and when you’re done, you can pop it in the dishwasher.

This sleek and versatile serving bowl is our editor Leah Goggins’ pick. “I love the clean design and the convenience of having the serving utensils stored in the lid,” she said. “It would be perfect for bringing along salads and other side dishes to autumn and winter potlucks that are just around the corner.” She notes that our Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Goat Cheese & Pomegranate is one of her favorites.

The wooden utensils pop in and out of the lid easily, so you never have to worry about forgetting them. It also serves as a convenient reminder to help ensure you bring them home with you at the end of the night.

Green Rectangle Baking Dish, 15×9.5

This deep baking dish is a fan-favorite here at EatingWell, with senior editor Megan Ginsberg and associate news and trending editor Danielle DeAngelis both hooked on its design. The dish comes in a small, medium and large size and three colors: white, blue and a green that our editors love. “The mint green color is so inviting and will look perfect on my dark wood table when I’m serving from it,” said Ginsberg.

DeAngelis says she’s going to use it for some of her favorite recipes, like our Spinach & Tortellini Casserole. Plus, the cheerful color doesn’t hurt. “I’ve been looking for a deep casserole dish,” she said, “and the one in the Real Simple line is not only the perfect size, but so cute!”

Set of 12 In-Drawer Spice Jars with Acacia Wood Rack, 4oz

Senior nutrition editor and registered dietitian Jessica Ball, M.S., RD, has her eye on this spice rack, citing its usefulness as an in-drawer organizer. “I know at least for me, it sounds way more appealing to use a spice if it’s labeled clearly and easy to grab compared to if it’s in the back of a cluttered cabinet.” Plus, she says, having them cleanly arranged might make you more likely to reach for them. “Spices and herbs offer tons of anti-inflammatory benefits, and storing them in a way that’s organized and easy to access can make it more compelling to use them.”

These jars come empty, so it’s easy to fill them up with whatever herbs or spices you use the most—and be sure to label them so you remember what you filled them with. Use one to designate next to your other kitchen essentials, or get multiple to fill a whole drawer.

The Bottom Line

These are just some of our most eye-catching picks, but we’re excited for the whole collection of these products by Real Simple and At Home. From everyday cooking essentials to functional decor that will liven up your space, there’s something for everyone—editor or otherwise.
