  • No illnesses reported yet; Dispose of recalled cheese or contact the store for a refund.

Boar’s Head just announced a recall on two of their popular cheese products sold nationwide, according to the distribution company’s announcement. This is due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The products affected by this recall are the pecorino romano cheese sold grated in 6-ounce containers as well as whole in 7-ounce packaging. Below is the information on the affected cheese products, including affected UPCs and best-by dates:

Product UPC Lot Code
Boar’s Head Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese (6-ounce) 0-42421-05858 Sell-by dates ranging from 11/21/25 through 3/12/26
Boar’s Head Pecorino Romano Cheese (7-ounce) 0-42421-15160 Sell-by dates ranging from 11/25/25 through 5/11/26

The recalled pecorino romano was sold at multiple grocery chains, including Big Y and TOPS. Check your refrigerator, and if you have the recalled cheese on hand, dispose of it immediately or contact your place of purchase for a refund.

This recall was initiated after Boar Head’s supplier, Ambriola Company, notified the company of a possible Listeria contamination. While there are no illnesses currently connected to this recall, Listeria infection (listeriosis) can be severe for adults age 65 or older, immunocompromised individuals, those who are pregnant and for young children. If you are showing signs of foodborne illness after eating the recalled cheese, including nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or diarrhea, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

For questions about this recall, contact Boar’s Head at 800-352-6277 or Ambriola Company at 973-228-3600 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
